Stay with me here as this article isn't super recent but still recent enough for it to have a political value. This article is of course about gun control and the authors opinion about gun control. I personally agree with the author in that having much more restrictive gun laws wouldn't do much good since criminals would now be the only people with "guns of war" and the civilized people would not have anything to defend themselves with. Do not get me wrong here I think that purchasing an assault rifle to defend an apartment is a little over the edge. I think there is something much more fit for that type of home defense.
As the author states most mass shootings take place in a "gun free zone" according to the author by making it harder to purchase a firearm would drastically increase the amount of gun free zone thereby increasing the danger that everyday pedestrians are in. The author does not go into very much detail about background checks and a mental scan to make sure that you are mentally and morally able to own a firearm. As for my opinion on that is really that I do not really have one just that people should use common sense and not sell firearms to people that are blind and etc.
I agree with you on this post. I think it is very well written and the topic is very important to public safety and welfare.
ReplyDeleteI agree that gun sales should be monitored but very restrictive laws should not be put in place. Guns are dangerous to innocents when used incorrectly but they are also valuable in protection.
ReplyDeleteI believe that everyone has the right to own guns and it is unconstitutional if guns are taken away. People are going to find ways to get guns illegally which increases the crime rate. Also, the people who can't get a gun won't be able to defend themselves if a situation ever occurs. The only situation when people shouldn't own a gun is if they abuse the privilege.
